    Time?

I just realized something. If one were to believe this stuff about worldlines and that a choice creates a new worldline, we must realize that a choice is really just an impulse; a force. So then, any physical record of time must be a record of forces, not necessarily matter itself.

    Time?

Not when they didn't even try to explain.
  3. I like cookies. :D This isn't some HDR thing you're talking about, is it? Or "astral" time travel?

    Time?

Inability to convey an idea is not a fault of the listener. :)

    Time?

Any idea how to do this? :D
  6. I just got my first button working! lol Sounds insignificant, I know, but I feel accomplished. :D Now I can flash LEDs in a circle OR all on & off at once. Real I/O, oh yes. Next I shall build a time machine and a space ship! Or maybe take it in steps... lol
  7. A microwave oven and a duck. Now that's some solid science. lol :D
  8. Found it! :D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4th_Grade_(South_Park) http://www.southparkstudios.com/episodes/103904/
  9. Yep. It really takes a refusal to be easily offended. lol But it's usually spot on in its portrayal of affairs. I've seen most episodes, but I must have missed that one! What episode/season was it? :D
  10. Anyone else watch south park? That episode so accurately depicted people and the facebook insanity. :D

    Time?

I guess it's ulimately a matter of how matter is arranged. That's how we determine that time has passed anyway. Without perception of space, there would be no time. But that's not much help, is it. :) I know that the quantum numbers are supposed to be the only things determining the state of matter at the small scale. The reason I present this idea is because *something* has to account for time. I'm not attached to any idea, though, so feel free to tear it to shreds. I don't like to speculate on black or white holes, because there's no way I can experiment with them. They seem like more speculation than anything.
  12. Thanks for the response. I have noticed lots of repetition in topics and new age stuff, as you describe. It's my desire to approach time travel in a scientific manner. Of course, we all know the difficulty of that. Even so, it's the only method that seems to have any hope of working. Maybe if we get a good discussion going, we can get the lurkers to come out of the shadows. :D No black holes or wormholes for me. If it can't be created in a lab (yet), it's of no use.

    Time?

I was hoping for something more in depth than that.
  14. This place used to be so busy. Now hardly anybody posts. What happened?
  15. Me too. From this site: <font color="#0000ff">It is a well known fact that humans dream in 90 minute cycles. When the delta brainwave frequencies increase into the frequency of theta brainwaves, active dreaming takes place and often becomes more experiential to the person. Typically, when this occurs there is rapid eye movement, which is characteristic of active dreaming. This is called REM, and is a well known phenomenon.[/color] It also says that theta waves are between 5 & 8 Hz. This conveniently corresponds to the 7.83 Hz Schumann resonance of the earth. Combined with entrainment, we have a potential explanation of how minds can be linked across the globe during sleep. You sleep, producing brainwaves which excite the Schumann resonance & travel efficiently across the world & influence other sleeping people. Just a guess.

Ok, I'll start. Tree rings exist as discrete rings in the trunk of a tree and record (approximately) the number of years the tree has grown. Atoms of matter also have discrete bands, called atomic orbitals. Perhaps the innermost electrons, being of higher binding energy, are also "older" in the sense of being a little bit in the past. And what about when you go even further within matter?

    Time?

People often talk about timelines as branching structures, etc., saying that every choice (whatever that is) makes a new timeline which branches off from this one. Though I disagree with this idea, it is interesting that people never look at the other natural branching structure: trees! They record time in their structure, by tree rings. Nature seems to do things in the most efficient (and obviously natural) way possible, and living things make a record of time itself. What if matter in general does this too? Your thoughts, please. :)
  18. That explains a lot, looking at a few previous posts. :D
  19. To anyone who cares: The USBASP is a cheap (and therefore popular) programmer for Atmel microcontrollers. However, it's necessary to use 3rd party software (WinAVR & avrdude) to access it. This wouldn't be a problem, except that it's very difficult to get it working. Apparently it includes an incompatible version of libusb and/or the usbasp driver. It took me all night to configure it properly. It may be worthwhile to spend a little more money to have a programmer that works directly out of the box using AVR Studio, if you don't feel like playing with it for hours. It's frustrating but does work well once it's configured properly. :)
  20. Took all night but I finally got it right. :D *pats self on back*
