Re: I've Gone back 2000 YEARS

So your state athletic commission is aware that you hold these?

Your local Law enforcement knows?

What style of mixed martial arts is taught on 1 night a week?

What world class BJJ teacher do you have to show then BJJ?

What events do you train for?

Does the promoter of the show that your fighters fight for know the training environments his fighters are in?

What if any medical insurance do you provide?

Who gives you a license to train this way?

Are the parent's insurance companies aware of the "sport"?

I could go on for ever asking you questions, but I am willing to bet that you will not tell me where this "training" takes place

I, however train out of www.midamericama.com if you're curious. Jake is my name.

I am willing to bet this is a made up tale -MMA has nothing to do with Fight club the movie, NOTHING.

I would say that you're a Story teller.

Nebraska, yes, it is Illegal to fight in the street/rock pit. Just like it is in any state in our nation.

Please tell me the place where this "fight club" takes place.

As a Major supporter of this sport, I look to stop any and all cancer that takes away from the forward direction of this new and evolving sport.

So for your "church Fight club"

I will contact your local law.

I do not bet.

But I will bet this is 1 of 2 things

1: A LIE from a LIAR will unfold (If you have not heard of Felony Fights then do not say they are not looking to crack down)!!

2: Illegal

So wise up Mr. Keyboard warrior...no more tales of MMA As I am an Athlete/Fan for over 11 years.

I know all the rules and the yes LAWS involved with MMA!

Sorry for my rant, this is a touchy subject.

Before this turns into an offshoot of 'Christian Forums' or 'Rapture Ready' what made you decide that the Christian God is the one true one then Tikmovado? Do you think you'd have chosen Allah if you'd grown up in a Muslim community? What made you discount Odin or Ra for instance?

Re: I've Gone back 2000 YEARS

Well I am a believer that there is no "god"

I am an atheist.

If I grew up in the Muslim community I would have been stoned to death by now.

I was raised in a Christian family, boy did that go bad for the hmmm 20 years that I was forced to attend the mind numbing babblings of some "guy".

Now that im 27 the last 7 years have been good.

What would make you think i am a Christian Dave ?

Re: I've Gone back 2000 YEARS

Hi MS (et.al.):

Hey, believe me, in this society, it's near impossible not to consider the possibility of a godless world (mainly because everyone is an atheist who thinks their being repressed by organized religion),

Here is an interesting thing to chew on:

In today's world we know about the problem of "religious fundamentalism", and I am not only referring to Islamist terrorist groups. There are Christian fundamentalists with some wacked-out ideas (Pat Robertson, anyone?) as well as Jewish fundamentalists. But how often do we even consider that there might be a subculture that might best be described as "atheist fundamentalists".

I've seen the signs. There is such an undercurrent of people out there. And the point of ANY form of fundamentalism is the extremeness of belief, and a general lack of balance (either acceptance or tolerance of) opposing ideas. I am sure most atheists detest having anyone from any religious belief try to "shove their ideas down my atheist throat". But how often do atheists ever look at themselves, and see if they might be just as "vehement" in how they try to "convince" believers that there IS no God? I've visted many science forums, and some of them are less science forums than they are a place for atheists to willfully "shove their atheism down the throat" of any theist who happens to express an opinion or try to show them some (indirect) evidence for a God.

The rule of the "New Time" (and I know Zerubabbel agrees with this, and perhaps we will hear from him) is that ALL forms of extremism are on their way out. And even if they don't think they are on the way out, they will find some help from an "usher" of sorts when we reach "the end of ordinary Time". ;)

Re: I've Gone back 2000 YEARS

thats a very good point you make rmt and one i have never considered. an atheist fundamentalist is almost as dangerous as a religous fundamentalist, although they dont ask you for money to help support their belief, and they dont use scare tactics to make you believe in them. but they can try too hard sometimes to force their belief on others; my own belief in god,the afterlife or whatever u want to call it is that nobody out there has it entirely right, and the only time we really find out is when we die. living our life in a way that our conscience can deal with and having no regrets is what its all about. right and wrong is different depending on where your from, your upbringing and your own personal experiences.

i have a strong belief that the law is an ass, and many things that are regarded as "bad" in this world are not. so long as your not hurtin anyone else i dont see why things should be outlawed. the reason i mention law is because its much like religion in my eyes, only it comes from real authority figures and not an all seeing all powerful deity that will send u to hell for being bad, but instead send you to prison. it also leads me to a quote by bob dylan (i think) "to live outside the law you must be honest" and i treat this as much to do with law as i do with religion. as long as you are honest and true to yourself things will be ok.

my problem with religion is that people feel so strongly the need to convert others to their way of thinking, so strongly that they are willing to kill others just to make a point. in the big picture of the universe, we are here less time than it takes a fart to disperse round a crowded lift, so why not make the most of it (life, not the fart).

another great quote this time from randy marsh (stan's dad) - lets stop trying to get to heaven and make heaven here on earth.

Re: I've Gone back 2000 YEARS

First of all, I didn't mean to give the impression that this was anything like the movie Fight Club, nor that it was MMA: just a group of people who meet to have fun playing various combat sports. Our local law enforcement is indeed aware of event, but you obviously know more about this than me, and I will have to ask again regarding the legality of this. If you could private-message me with some info from your Canadian aquaintances regarding liscences, &c. I'd appreciate it immensely. But we digress.

I certainly agree that people shouldn't use terror to try and convert people (it neither works nor is nice) but surely you can understand that if people really believe that they have found the way to get to heaven and you haven't, they'd have to be assholes not to make an attempt to tell others. Which is not to say that there isn't a point at which you're "shoving it down someone's throat".

Aparrently this was directed at me, so here goes:

I think it is indeed likely that I would be a Muslim if I grew up in a Muslim community, and for that matter a believer in Odin and Ra if they were my local deities. Growing up in Canada with Christian parents, I definately had a slim chance of not being either an athiest or a Christian, but the things I've experienced through my faith and fellowship with other Christians (no time travel yet, Covenant :) ) bring me to the conclusion that I am indeed justified in my faith.

I certainly agree that people shouldn't use terror to try and convert people (it neither works nor is nice) but

the fact u follow such a statement with a but worries me and i wasnt just reffering to the modern method of "terror" as we so nicely coined it. The War Against Terror = T.W.A.T.

i was speaking in general about all religions throughout all ages (to my knowledge with the exception of buddhists although i dont think sittin in a field for 10 years is the way to go either) have tried to convert others to thier way of thinking through violence, brainwashing and other various techniques.

surely you can understand that if people really believe that they have found the way to get to heaven and you haven't, they'd have to be assholes not to make an attempt to tell others.

ever stopped and asked someone for directions?

they tell u to take a left, go straight on take another left the the third on the right past the lane, keep goin straight for a while you'll see a big thing looks like a farm, keep goin take the second right, third left, drive on down a bit, theres a river, ignore that, keep driving go round the roundabout twice and take the 3rd exit on the left side and it should be on the left somewhere.

cant miss it.

i'd rather drive around and try and find it myself. you might get lost on the way, but its more fun to find by yourself.

what if....

what if i had a toe where my thumb is? what if..... what if the person givin u directions tells u to take a left instead of a right. honest mistake but ur already ploddin on down the road to oblivion thinkin cus some guy gave u directions u'll find your "oasis"

are u comparing life on earth to a fallout zone? geez thats sad for u.

i think tikmovado said it best

I will rein in hell  while you serve in heaven ;).

and
There is no discrimination in hell.

if im goin to hell for not blindly believing what another person says then so be it.

im here to find my own way and experience life for what it is in the short time it lasts. if i get to burn in a pit of sulphur for eternity im sure after a few years i'll get used to the pain.maybe even start to enjoy it!

Re: I've Gone back 2000 YEARS

Thanks Treestump,

If people really want answers about themselves and the world they have to find it themselves, and anyone who searches the history of religions will see they are all darker than nightshade, and it should be plianly obvious that religions were the answer of ignorant men to explaining the world around them. Men who later realised the benefit of mass organised religion and its controls.

Re: I've Gone back 2000 YEARS

Rainman,

But how often do we even consider that there might be a subculture that might best be described as "atheist fundamentalists".

There is such a "group". It is called Marxist-Leninist and Maoist-Leninist Communism. They believe in the fundamentals of "scientific" dialectic. In their atheist religion everything in life - everything - is based on the scientific dialectic found in their four "bibles": The Communist Manifesto, Das Institut, Das Capital and The Thoughts of Chairman Mao.

It fits your description quite nicely. The true believers - the Revolutionary Vanguard - are just as rabid as any extreme religious fundamentalist. Every act taken in the life of a true communist has to find its motivation and justification in one of those books. If an action is taken in violation of those tombs then a session of "Criticism/Self-Criticism" must be held by his/her revolutionary cadre to re-educate the offender.

Atheist 'religion'?? Come off it, I don't believe in any gods and have never read any of the above texts - is this your Christian fundie onanist fantasy spilling out onto the interweb? The Evil Communist Conspiracy Of Atheists? Can I generalise and lump all of you fundies in with right-wing neo-con capitalist pig dogs then? Oh I can, quelle surprise!?!

The Chrono part of my hybrid brain believes in the Christian God, that says it all
