Does the universe behave like a brain?

Scientists are starting to believe that the universe may grow like a brain.

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012/11/27/physicists-universe-giant-brain_n_2196346.html

"According to a study published in Nature's Scientific Reports, the universe may be growing in the same way as a giant brain - with the electrical firing between brain cells 'mirrored' by the shape of expanding galaxies."

What do you think?

P.S. I would take the word "behave" out of the subject if I could. There's a difference between growth and behavior. Sorry about that.

Even though this isn't in the article, I wonder if the universe actually does have a consciousness. We have proof of a universal consciousness: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Consciousness_Project

I wonder if this is part of the universe's consciousness.

I also contemplated the possibility of the universe communicating with other universes. (It may not be intelligent communication. For example, plants communicate environmental conditions to eachother but don't actually "think", as far as we know). There are other scientists taking this theory into consideration: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2816039/Parallel-universes-exist-Multiple-versions-living-alternate-worlds-interact-theory-claims.html

Overall, I find it feasible that the universe and our brains share some characteristics. IMHO.
