When time travel is well known, and hundreds of people a day are signing up to go, how do you think they will decide who can and can't go? Will it be as tough to get into the time travel program as it is to become an astronaut? What kind of education will they expect you to have?

I'm sure it would be very tightly controlled. After experimentation is finally done, they will probably develop missions to actually do things. I'm guessing it would be extremely top secret.

Surely it matters very little. It's one way trip, never truly returning, just moving on to something very close to where you left. The real problem would be who we are getting from other worldlines (I like 'worldlines' over other names). Who knows what kind of cultures and beliefs there is out there and the dangers those philosophies bring ...

Most likely they would only allow military or science personnel travel. Allowing civilians to travel would be too big of a risk. They may allow for Historians to go as a means of correcting our historical text to more accurate information, but they would have to be higher level historians.

There is some already said intimation of this happening, to where a witness on a super highway has seen a land vehicle shaped similar to an elongated bus-like football, that was silver and had people in it looking out of portholes. This was in The Encyclopedia Of Space Time And Mind complete with a drawing.

Other than this one claim, I feel that time travel will eventually become closely regulated. This is similar to a very tall tower to where the people now living at the top of the tower can dive down underwater and take stones from the near base of the tower as souvenirs. If they were allowed to keep doing do, then the foundation allowing the tower to stand would degrade, making the entire structure collapse in upon itself.Pinter

That's a great analogy!

Given the scenario that it's a world where time travel is common and all that time travel implies why would we expect there to be any particular quals? From your perspective it would appear that time travel has always existed in the past and will always exist in the future. How do you restrict time travel use when people (1) quite literally have forever to find ways to work around the restrictions and (2) can apply the work-arounds in both the future and the past?

Knowing this why would it even occur to anyone to try to place restrictions on it? It's time travel. Whatever one can think up today has already been tried by someone else yesterday or tomorrow. Try to place a restriction today and someone travels to yesterday and puts up a roadblock to stop the restriction.

Interesting thoughts, Darby. Makes for a strong theory that it could be a free-for-all if Pandora's box is ever opened.

Yes, Clark Griswold Titor would find many workarounds so that he could have his National Lampoon Time Travel Vacation. What a disaster that would be.

Regardless, he'll never get to Wally World while they are open, even with a time machine. Poor Clark.

I was thinking about our governments habit of putting restrictions on everything. I'm sure they would want to keep it a secret as long as possible. Once the beans were spilled they would try to keep the technology as classified as possible. They love to control everything. I wonder if its possible to keep it to themselves. They can make everyone who saw the crash at Roswell look like a nut job... same thing with time travel, maybe?

Great analogy and you are right. Without regulations then everything could collapse, even time.. if that makes sense. Made sense in my head anyway, just can't seem to put it into words for some reason.

Is it not that way with everything in the world? And yet we continue to build and we continue to set rules and regulations and we find ways to control certain situations to a marginal amount that prevents utter disaster but does not necessarily means alleviating crisis'. It is like that prayer, "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." - Reinhold.

I want to know what they think they're getting from withholding all this information. Because it's not conductive to the society they claim to work for.

They justify it by claiming they want to prevent mass panic. They do it because they don't want the people knowing how corrupt and dirty our government really is. They also don't want us to know about them not acting in the best interest of the people. Until they have stripped us of all our freedoms and there is no chance of an uprising they want us to believe the "land of the free", "equal rights", "inalienable rights" propaganda they have been spoon feeding us for the last 238 years.

Based on all of the time travelers I have seen so far... none of the above is even close. They obviously pick the dumbest person they can find to be the guinea pigs that then, post on the internet.

Since I have never met any actual time travelers, I am unsure of how valid your assessment is. However, for beginning testing to ensure that it is safe, yeah... they would use a moron because the smart people are too valuable to risk. But after that, once deemed safe, then I believe they would have restrictions on who would go and it would most likely be those who follow orders.

Similar to sending a chimp into space before they did astronauts? I know a few people who would probably qualify for that

There is a telling of an HDR user, (hyper dimensional resonator) time machine that used his HRD but did not calculate for Earth's procession. He almost materialized in the vacuum of space but a type of alien had been there to encapsulate him into their ship. Was relaied to me, I'm not at liberty to tell you more other than what I have here.

I hear the British used to ship their unwanted off to Australia. I'm sure our government, in an effort to save a buck, will begin deporting all prisoners, unwanteds, and welfare recipients to the past or off world entirely.....http://s8int.com/phile/page56.html

They did the same thing to America also. Georgia was originally suppose to be penal colony.

I would not put it past them to do it. What better way to get them out of the way then to put them as far away as possible. I'm surprised they haven't tried to turn the moon into a penal colony.

With the new influenza viruses the way they are, binding to the herpes virus, which is naturally carried by the human body, in no way would I move those detainees to Australia. With the sub-generations of the h1n1 investing in an estimated 80 to 90 percent of the U.S. population, ( a rarefied hyperfine virus, with little or no symptoms now known of), the re-combination concoction of oriental and post h1n1 generations of flu, could create a type of influenza that would be unstoppable.

In no way, shape or form, would I move those people to Australia, "except maybe to kill the population of Australia entirely off"?
