TheCigSmokinMan3
We noticed something odd recently... The PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES are only on CABLE NETWORKS such as MSNBC, FOX and CNN... Unfortunately, the MAJORITY OF AMERICANS do NOT HAVE CABLE... Thats right... Everyone thinks the market IS BIGGER THAN IT REALLY IS... By most demographic reports, CABLE USAGE is only 20-40 MILLION IN THE U.S. And 40 Million is a HIGH END ESTIMATE... So what the rest of 150-200 MILLION VOTING AGE AMERICANS do for DEBATE CONTENT? Not much. Just pre-selected "sound bites" on the NATIONAL 6:30 News and local news broadcasts... So THE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES are ONLY FOR THE UPPER MIDDLE CLASS AND THE WEATHLY in this country... NOT GOOD for DEMOCRACY. I think the PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES should be MOVED to BROADCAST TV... But then BROADCAST TV NETWORKS will complain ABOUT AD RATES... I'm sure PATRIOTIC CORPORATIONS will step up and SPONSOR THE DEBATES... And they can schedule the DEBATES between 7-8 EAST COAST time and REPLAY THEM in the OTHER TIME ZONES. This way AMERICANS can watch the DEBATES after DINNER and BEFORE LET'S SAY "Desperate Housewives..." or "Law And Order"... I thinks its something to be considered..., TheCigMan
