monkeybones
Hi i thought of a way of time travelling, not to other universes,... but on our very own earth. The only problem is the fuel and the speed... We launch a rocket or something like that around the world. If this rocket flies around the globe in less than 24 hours, then I think you can go into time. Let's say we can travel around the world in 12 hours. We go around the world once, then we pass the date line once, and we have a 12 hours leap into time. When we travel around the globe more than once, we can go back or forward into time. I know this sounds pretty weird, but I think it might work. Imagine it - start on the Greenwich meridian, then travel around the world in 12 hours, you pass the dateline at 6 hours, while the earth does this in 12 hours. When we do this more than once, we can easily skip days into time. I mean, when you pass the dateline more than once in 12 hours, you skipped a day... Darby
I mean, when you pass the dateline more than once in 12 hours, you skipped a day... So the Space Shuttle (and satellites for that matter), given that it makes an orbit in 90 minutes, returns to and lands at the Cape before it is launched, correct? RainmanTime
Hi Monkeybones, Welcome to the forum. Perhaps you should tell us a little about yourself. We can get pretty "ruthless" around here when it coms to people who make silly errors. If you are a youngster we might ease up on you a bit. The other guys are letting you know that your theory is severely flawed. Hopefully we can help you understand why, and hopefully you are open to learn. SamuelT
TimeLord, you have pinpointed it exactly. Superman travelled back in time with faster than light travel (of course no one's able to disprove this since no one can travel faster than light), but that's the only way this theory can be done. This idea is absolutely rediculous. The dateline is just the dateline. The only reason you have it is just because you have to set your clocks forward an hour in each timezone. Crossing it twice would just be like setting your clock forward 48 hours and then setting the date back two days. Nothing would happen, and it's a complete waste of time (forgive the pun).
