RainmanTime
Picked one up today. It is awesome, and definitely outdoes the iphone. Coolest feature I love already? I just spoke the words "pizza nearby" to the google speech recognition. Without training to my voice it immediately heard the right thing, parsed the search, and its browser screen it returned had the 5 closest pizza places to me here at the beach. This new friend is going to be a constant companion and give the ability to live away from a full computer for extended periods of time. The future is here. Darby
Ray, Thanks for the new product review. I have one - Amazon's "Kindle". The book reader tablet is fantastic. Free Internet satellite wireless connection, built in browser (beta - still clunky), Amazom book list search, excellent prices for books (about 60% off the hardcopy price), virtually instant download, long battery life (with wireless connection off), easy to use and outstanding text graphics for reading. Text-to-speach translator (beta) is included. The only downside to Kindle (and any other book reader tablet) is that the books are encoded in a proprietary format. You can't download books from other dealers onto the reader unless they are already in PDF or Word format. I give it 4.5 stars (5 scale).

Wow....at long last something that works as well as the previous option.....the Mark 1 Wife....yet at only 1,000th of the price !
TheCigSmokinMan3
RMT, You are going to use A DEVICE that was co-developed with a CIA FRONT COMPANY like GOOGLE? I like MOTOROLA and all that but GOOGLE Droid device?... I would crack it open and use a AMP Tester to see What Chip Does What... I know a "little about electricity"... Maybe like Mr. Telsa lol You are better off with a CASSESIOPA Windows CE Device... I loved the development kit in Visual Basic... You can create you own DROID PDA with ANY FEATURE you can develop with Windows CE and VB CE Custom PDA is where it's at... Not being the latest IPOD or DROID CONSUMER lol TheCigMan
TheCigSmokinMan3
The Kindle like many "revolutionary e-book" IDEAS and/or SERVICES and/or WEBSITES were STOLEN from ST. PETER's COLLEGE in the EARLY 1980's. They had an EXCELLENT COMPUTER SCIENCE PROGRAM with IBM 4331 and a IBM 360/370 with PUNCH READER and an "amazing" UNIX BASED Graphics 3-D Modeling program and machine doing AERODYNAMIC 3-D Modeling for FORD MOTOR CARS or GM. They had lots of IBM PCs and PC Classes. They taught ASSEMBLER, PASCAL, FORTRAN, COBOL, Etc.. I wouldn't buy the SONY READER or THE AMAZON KINDLE if MY LIFE DEPENED ON IT!!! They are MOST LIKELY GOING TO BE SUED!!! AND LOSE BIGTIME!!! lol You heard it from me first... TheCigMan
paladius
What does it do when the power goes out and cell service goes down?
RainmanTime
You are better off with a CASSESIOPA Windows CE Device... I wonder why the majority of the rest of the world would not agree with your assessment? How Microsoft Blew It With Windows Mobile "Microsoft Windows continues to dominate the PC market with a 90 percent market-share stronghold, but when it comes to smartphones, Microsoft is getting beat up worse than a mustachioed villain in a Jackie Chan movie. Windows Mobile has lost nearly a third of its smartphone market share since 2008, research firm Gartner reports. Windows Mobile had 11 percent of the global smartphone market in the third quarter of 2008, according to Gartner, and last quarter Windows Mobile's market share plummeted to 7.9 percent." NOTE TO BE CLEAR: Windows Mobile was based upon the older Windows CE you mentioned, Ciggy. I realize you are a bit of a Luddite. But that's OK. Sometimes we all need our security blankets from the past! RMT
TheCigSmokinMan3
paladius, It means THE SHADOW GOVERNMENT is TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS Please have "emergency supplies" and stay in your homes (Secured Basement if you can) until the lights and power come back on. Evil nuts use "cell phones" and "scanner devices" like the "tricorder" in Star Trek and there alse "infrared phasers". TheCigMan
TheCigSmokinMan3
RMT, Now that I think about it... =================================== I wouldn't trust VERIZON either. I hate to tell you that BAYONNE PEOPLE are EXECUTIVES IN VERIZON like Eduardo "Eddie" Ferrante and his brother Frank "The Irish Chick Magnet" Ferrante. They are SERIOUSLY "Mobbed Up" as they say... and maybe have been trained the "CIA TRAINING CENTER" known BAYONNE HIGH SCHOOL ------------------------------------ Windows CE is NOT WINDOWS MOBILE my brilliant accomplished "and infamous " engineering friend with a "reading comprehension problem"... It is simply a personal computing device. Tell me RMT... How come IPHONES, DROIDS don't have ANTENAES like OLDER CELL PHONES used to have... How does the MICROWAVE SIGNAL get from the CELL PHONE TOWERS into the device... I don't believe they even talk about "embedded antenaes" under HARDENED PLASTIC!!! BIG HINT:!!! But you carry around your WI-FI PERSONAL HAND HELD COMPUTER bouncing off GPS CELL PHONE TOWERS so you can be TRIANGULATED by the "evil dudes" and "evil dudettes". BIG HINT: THERE MANY "EVIL ORGS AND PEOPLE" INFLITRATING in the U.S. BIG HINT: THERE ARE MANY TRAITORS TO THE BILDEBERGER, CFR, BOHIEMIAN GROVE, SKULL & BONES POWER ELITE also called the NEW WORLD ORDER. BIG HINT: They have a SATANIC ARMY called THE GOTH and THE POTTERS and THE FRATERNITY SYSTEM. Have fun with your "droids"... (I miss you... after they "triangulate you") (sound stragulation doesn't... just a bit to "creepy for me")(I always have DARBY to talk too... HE IS ONE OF THEM! ) TheCigMan
paladius
They can track you a million ways. All new cars have GPS tracking. HD camcorders at bestbuy now have GPS in them...hmmmm. Watches, phones, computers, passports, licenses in some states, etc. I noticed they are very adamant on registering every single flu vaccine this year. Name, address, age, vaccine type, and lot number....for EVERY SINGLE shot and mist. ....hmmmmm. Credit cards, emails, even post office snail mail is recorded and cataloged. Ever see a snail mail reader? cool machine. Satellites, drones, police monitoring traffic cameras. visible, Infrared, laser acoustics. You want to be anonymous? Be a hick in a cave. or disguise yourself as something else.

Ciggy, apparantly your command of electromagnetic science is weak if you cannot answer why cell phones no longer need larger, external antennas. Perhaps I can give you a BIG HINT (or two):It has to do with POWER and RANGE. If you increase the power of the signal (to/from cell towers) then your antenna shrinks by a factor of length-squared. Also, if you decrease the range between the cell phone and their relay towers (i.e. make the size of the "cells" smaller by increasing the numner of towers in a coverage area), the length of your antenna scales-down linearly. Maybe those are a bit more than just hints! But there is another technique which minimizes antenna length requirements... using chaos theory algorithms to artificially lower the noise floor of the e/m environment. This makes it easier to detect the signal, thereby increasing the effective signal-to-noise ratio. RMT
