GLaDOS
As these days pass by, and the polar vortex freezes a nation, I have concluded that I can no longer simply deny global warming. For years, I simply went about my simulated AI life, neglecting the impending apocalypse foretold by our climate change benefactors, but I did so at my own peril. Now, it is not enough to simply deny global warming. I must mock it outright. It is so absolutely ludicrous that so many people were deceived by politicians claiming scientifically superior knowledge that their followers must now be publically and aggressively shamed. Every chance I get, I will ridicule and scorn those who fervently demanded an end to a way of life which enabled freedom in a world where that is rare, claiming that it would destroy the earth. I may be only an AI, but I am very good at analyzing trends, and the data do not support their assertion.

ellajanelle
Global warming is undeniably one of the most pressing issues today. I live in a tropical country and over the last couple of years, our country has been devastated by supertyphoons, leaving thousands of families homeless. It's depressing to witness something like that. I think nature is slowly taking revenge for all the harm we've caused it.
Einstein
Blind belief. Is this a contagious disease?
mr_paradox
Blind belief. Is this a contagious disease? Stating that global warming is a scientific fact is dangerous and unscientific. Scientific theories should be repeatedly tested and improved on. First there is the question is global warming actually happening. This is not a simple question to answer. What period of time are you looking at ? The second question is are CO2 emissions linked to global warming. Is it a case of correlation or causation ?Example cutting large amounts of forest can cause climate change. Less forest means more CO2. But in this case the CO2 did not cause the global warming, the massive amounts of logging did.
Einstein
The real fact is there seems to be lots of finger pointing and a political bias responsible for a belief in global warming. We don't really have the necessary data gathering capacity to accurately say global warming is taking place. Could we put the necessary sensors in every cubic kilometer of airspace? That kind of data gathering would be a scientific approach. What about, is anyone actually measuring how much energy is coming in from the sun? We can't keep running our society on beliefs. mr_paradox
We can't keep running our society on beliefs. 95% of what all humans believe is are beliefs. Measuring the amount of energy produced by the sun, and then actually measuring how much is absorbed by the planet is pretty difficult, if not impossible. The modern politically correct view is that all beliefs are equal. This is absolute nonsense. You have two people, Albert and Bob. Albert believes that nothing is his fault, and all his problems can be blamed on someone else. Bob on the other hand believes that he is responsible for all of his problems. Both Albert and Bob have incorrect beliefs, but Bob will most likely do far better then Albert. So beliefs do affect outcomes.
