PaulaJedi
Some people assume the only way to time travel is to travel as fast as the speed of light. But perhaps there are other scientific ways to time travel, as it seems to me that the human body wouldn’t be able to handle the G’s going that fast. Others say that a portal is created, but how? And what exactly does it do? Then, there are worm holes, but there is a black hole on each end, which contains a dead, collapsed star that one cannot pass through. How would it be scientifically possible to time travel through a worm hole and can the human body and/or a craft survive the force? Let’s discuss time travel methods. Curiosity
You should read about Sergei Krikalev. He was in orbit around Earth for 803 days which caused him to be 0.02 seconds younger than others born at the same time as him.

Kush Chaudhary
Its actually very interesting to talk about methods of time traveling. I think there are few methods of doing so First is ofcourse the method of traveling with the speed of light to travel in time. Second one could be the Gravity. We know according to Einstein theory of relativity, The stronger the gravity, the lower the time. So if we find a way to go to that area where gravity is very strong then time for that person who is experiencing strong gravity will move slowly. In this way a person can travel in future in very short span of time. Third method could be the wormholes, Stephen Hawkins explains that the wormholes are constantly popping out on our earth from time to time. but these are atomic in size. We just have to find a way to enlarge the size of wormholes so that a human can pass through it. Fourth method could be hibernating our body. Now a days scientists know the method to freeze/hibernate our body, so that we can wake up again in future with the same age. Many animals such as bears can easily slow their metabolism in case of hunger problems. So if scientist can find a way to hibernate our body for 50-80 years without any problems then that person can easily travel in time. According to me, these are some methods. What do you think about them?
Martian
@PaulaJedi It’s not the velocity which causes bodily harm, but rather the acceleration. There are free floating organs in the human body, suspended in fluid. Due to Newton’s 1st law of motion, an object at rest tends to remain at rest until acted upon by an external force. Most human vehicles apply a force upon the body by applying a 2D surface force on the body, which is then transferred, at the speed of sound, to all other physically connected objects, including internal organs. This can potentially cause organs to slam into bones like in a concussion. I’d be cautious about believing black hole theories or anything else peddled by mainstream “science”, if you can’t replicate it in a laboratory. Martian
I forgot to mention the increased pressure gradient, or whatever, in the veins & arteries. It makes the heart work harder to push blood throughout the body. There are ways around some of Newton’s laws, but the internet is not the place to share them. I personally don’t think FTL travel is the way to go, but who knows?
Obiwan Kenobi
A few thoughts of mine: Lightspeed is likely the slowest speed that’s possible in the multiverse Infinite mass for moving at lightspeed is only a problem in general relativity The human consciousness is massless, and thus unrestricted by lightspeed acceleration Natural wormholes are probably a bad idea to use without some form of warp technology
Scientist
On YouTube there is a video called Classroom Aid - Light Cone Tipping. I think it kinda gives you a feel for how gravity affects spacetime
non sequitur
As far as I am aware travel at light speed has only one small problem. You can not decelerate and stop. Travel at just below light speed could avoid the complication.

I especially like the idea of using hibernation to travel in time, since it seems like it would be a relatively safe method. I also like the idea of traveling near a black hole to travel in time, but I think it may be dangerous because one small mistake could send you hurtling sidelong into the singularity. janewormhole
I read something about the things that is a kind of time travel. For example, you get in a cabinet and wait for 8 hours and then you get out and it can be a kind of time travel. Or sleeping, in the deep of your sleep your consciousness is half closed. You felt like it was really short but it was o whole 8 hours but you only felt it like 15 minutes or something. The fact that time is a result of moves makes time travel strange. Time isn't a steady flowing river. It can change to your mental situation. Time can past so fast for you when you listening to your favorite class or it can be the opposite for a boring class to you. It can even change by the weather. So time travel should be something different. Like if it is a result of the moves and the changes so you can't change the past maybe you can only travel. There was a saying, you can't change the past but you can learn some thing from the past. So if my theory is right then we can't travel to the future. But there can be more different things about the time. No one has ever figured out what the time is. You make a good point. but there is a difference between being unaware of the passing of time (example: sleeping) and time travelling. Speed is the answer. Travel fast and your time "slows" down relative to not travelling fast. and in effect you travel into the future. How to go back in time is beyond my tiny mind. janewormhole
It doesn't sound like traveling. It only sounds like creating your own reality. Cause future have to include the things that happen. You can't travel into the things that unrealized. You can create an universe or your reality or nothing. Time is an outcome of the changing and the moves. So things that unrealized can't be in time. janewormhole
I am telling you this, if there is a lived future and we can travel into it, then life will be meaningless. just imagine, it is like flowing river, it doesn't make sense. If it is happening then it is not future.
non sequitur
Exactly - it does not make sense, but not making sense just means we haven't figured that one out. That's pretty exciting. In theory multiverses are possible, where every outcome is true.
janewormhole
The future is just our dreams and our versions in a parallel universe. That is my thought. Sometimes doesn't make sense means it isn't working I know there are things that we didn't realize. But sometimes the answer is right in front of you but you don't see it because you just look. We don't have to think wild we have to see.
non sequitur
Sometimes doesn't make sense means it isn't working Maybe, but to determine that we need to know why something does not make sense. Classicalfan626
How to go back in time is beyond my tiny mind. Theoretically, there is at least one way to travel back in time. The one I came across can be described in "The Quantum Physics of Time Travel", a book by Joseph Gabriel that I got as a Christmas gift; and that way is traveling faster than the speed of light. As I understand it, the passage of time is an illusion which is relative to each individual person, place, thing, etc.
janewormhole
As I understand it, the passage of time is an illusion which is relative to each individual person, place, thing, etc. Exactly! There should be something different to travel in time. A lot of scientists designed machines but in general most of them didn't work (at least as far as i know) If we wanna learn something about the time travel, first we should think about the reasons for time travel. Write why you want to time travel. For example, I would like to time travel only to learn things from the past and make sure about somethings about the world. I would get a lot of my question's answers.
