There was a similar poster on 4ch (who claimed to be a time traveler) who talked about the Three Gorges Dam in China and some other things that culminate in 2022 and beyond being "Mad Max". I know I've seen a "explain like I'm 5" for this at some point that included that information... I will see if I can find it again.
