Cosmo
Survivalism is a social movement of people or organizations (called survivalists or preppers) who proactively prepare for calamities, including natural disasters and disturbances to the social, political, or economic order. It is possible to plan for short-term or long-term eventualities, ranging from individual hardship to regional service disruptions to international or global disasters. The focus is on self-reliance, gathering resources, and learning survival skills. Survivalists prepare for a disaster by learning first aid and self-defense skills, stockpiling food and water, and constructing emergency shelters such as survival retreats or underground shelters. Dizzie
I've often thought about taking some basic measures after reading one of my very favorite books, Alas Babylon by Pat Frank. Like Frank himself, I've never gotten around to it!
